Give Thanks Day Three ...Thanksgiving Activity...The Thankful Tree...

Kelli from There Is No Place Like Home is Hosting a Giving Thanks Week !!!

Today I am sharing our Thanksgiving Thankful Tree Family Activity.

A new tradition can be started, by making a Thankful Tree for your family

You will need: different Autumn colored sheets of cardstock or construction paper. A fake Fall leaf ( your choice ) A pencil, marker and hole punch. First you will trace out your leaves on the papers. I made 3 leaves of each color for my family.

Then cut out your leaves, punch a hole at the top of each and write your family members name on each color.

We used a thick twig with two stems, placed it into a piece of wood and hung the leaves on each twig.

We also added a clothes pin to the top and clipped our Family photo.
Now, on Thanksgiving day, pass out your leaves to each member, before dinner and have them write what they are thankful for on each leaf. Place them all back on the tree.

When dinner is ready, sit around your dinner table, pass out the leaves again to each family member. Go around the table rotating around to each family member read what they are thankful for. After they are read, hang them back on the tree, say grace and enjoy your special Thanksgiving meal together.

Thankfulness

We're thankful for Thy blessings, Lord,

Thy watchful eye above,

For freedom's bell that rolls for all In this dear land we love.

We're thankful, Lord, for useful work,

For measure of good health,

For family ties and friendship dear,

More precious this than wealth.

For all Thy tender mercies, Lord,

For sunshine and for rain,

For golden harvest richly blessed In yield of fruit and grain.

On this Thanksgiving Day, dear Lord,

We bow in humble prayer.

We're thankful for Thy blessings, Lord;

Thy gifts are everywhere.

  4. Oh, this was wonderful!
I also posted about a giving tree, only mine is completely different...I had to come over and see yours and it is so charming! (And I loved the vintage postcards you posted!)

Mine is so simplistic but I guess it shows us that there are so many different types of ways to incorporate this idea!

I loved stopping by your place today...come by mine if you can!
(I'm also a home school mom!)
    Blessings!

  5. I *love* that idea! Maybe we can begin that too. I will have to keep this in mind. Maybe I'll head over to the craft store today and pick up some supplies.
