Oh, the glory of this autumn day,
When the trees unfold their gold!
Like precious coins, each leaf holds on
Through sunshine, fog, or haze;
Will warm my winter days.

One of the nicest beds I know
isn't a bed of soft white snow,
after the noisy mowers pass,
isn't a bed of yellow hay
making me itch for half a day--
but autumn leaves in a pile that high,
deep, and smelling like fall, and dry.
That's the bed where I like to lie
and watch the flutters go by.

The kids and the dog ( and a sweet Lady Bug)
had a fun day in the leaves.
We had planned to rake them up and
put them in the trash bins.
Of course temptation set in and they started jumping in it.
Isn't it supposed to be work before play?
Heck, would you blame them?

ReplyDeletehave a great weekend!
The lovely thing about leaf pile in CA is they are not wet. You can not jump in them here xoxoxo Clarice
ReplyDeleteMy daughter was so proud the other day when she had a teeny tiny pile of leaves from our tiny tree to jump in. She had a blast playing in them.
ReplyDeleteI admit to being jealous, it is spitting snow here, and they are bare legged and bare footed!
Have a wonderful day!
