Simplifying Christmas Decorations

Today's topic on Simplifying Christmas
hosted by Heart Of A Mommy
is Christmas Decorations.

When we deck the halls...
it has always been simple.
Call me a country girl at heart.
I like to look at how others deck it all out,
but for us it stays simple, and homey.
Every year we buy an ornament
for our children to put on the tree.
It has also been tradition from their
Grandparents to get each an ornament.
We also make a home made ornament every year.
So what goes on the tree is what we have
been given or what the children make.
It is a sweet tree...
not too fancy, just right for the sort of people we are.

Little dolls and glittery poinsettia are
placed out on the table or shelves.

The easiest most inexpensive way to decorate
with greenery is to pluck it from our trees outside.

Freckles & I gathered a whole basket full of greens
to place around the mantle and throughout.
We are also planning to make a homemade green wreath this week!

My favorite color is red, so much of what I decorate with, had red in it....
a little splash of greens and you have that simple yet pretty festive look.
Let us not forget the little Nutcracker men my daughter collects.

The only other place I like to add festive touch to is in the kitchen.
Again it has a red and white theme with a splash of greens.
The decorations are very simple.
I took a couple small bowls and placed them atop each other,
added white pom poms and a cherry on top. Looks like you can eat it!
Just a few figurines, tin boxes, snowflakes,
homemade things from my children, greenery and a
few vintage kitchen items for a little whimsy.
I love it!

My home is simple.
It didn't cost me an arm and a leg to decorate.
It certainly isn't for show or to keep up with anyone else.
Yet, we have a festive, warm, loving atmosphere to celebrate
the most important traditions with our children.
Thank you for stopping by.
I hope you enjoyed this simple post.

I wish we had some greenery outside to bring in...but the pine trees have are so high up I can't reach it.

    But I love that idea.

BTW, your the last comment you made (I think) was the only comment that I got from you. ♥
