Quilt Block Update & Chili Cook Off

Last week I worked on my scrappy quilt project for the Sew Scraps Along With Pleasant Home. So here are my first four blocks. I will share the next four Wednesday when I am also having a Scrappy Fabric Give Away! So be sure to come back for a chance to win a bag full of fabric goodies. I am quilt pleased  (lol) with my first blocks. I have gathered up some of my 30's repro scraps to put in each block.

I can't wait to finish it up, but have all these other projects on my plate.
I figure if I can get two ~ four blocks done a day
I could gather enough for a quilt within a couple weeks.
 We'll see about that though.

On another note: This weekend was our annual Chili Cook Off & Reformation Day Celebration. Freckles & I made desserts for the Chili Cook Off festivities. I made a Candy Apple & Walnut Pie...Freckles made a Cherry Chocolate Cheese Cake... It turned out so pretty.

My son made his first chili and entered it into the contest. I was so proud of him. We made chili like my sister's, but tweaked it a bit... it turned out very good, with the perfect hint of spice and a touch of sweet... Not too sweet though... It had to be somewhat spicy!

It was so spicy and hot around there,
that the Fire Department came out!

Somebody called 911!
Sadly it was really for a church member who was feeling dizzy and faint...He didn't even have a chance to eat any of the chili. As far as we hear, all is fine, nothing was found wrong with him...In the meantime, the judging went on... My son didn't win first prize..( except in my eyes)!!
Here we have it the new Chili King who knocked
our Pastor out of The Crown and trophy.

Congrats Mark!

Okay dear readers... meet me back here on Wednesday for a chance to win my scrappy fabric give away... and Thank you also to those who stopped by for my gratitude Give away last week...
Blessings!!!
