Colonial Horn Book Project ....

Miss Bri has been studying The Colonial Era. Today, she learned that students in the Colonial days used a Horn Book to learn their ABC's and Prayers. She made one of her own. We purchased a really inexpensive cheese cutting board, which was perfect for the project.

First Miss Bri stained her Horn Book with an Antiqueing Gel.

She then, glued on a print from The New England Primer circa 1870.

She was so proud of her Horn Book.

  1. Thank you for your sweet pictures of your daughter's hornbook. My daughters, Margery and Emma, are making one now. Your blog was encouraging to me and I was happily surprised to see you are on The Simple Woman's Daybook! I missed this past Monday but I try to be faithful to that. May God bless you as you bring up your daughter in the Lord. Jennifer
