Oh Christmas Tree..

We have been here in California since September, I was anticipating that the remainder of our belongings that didn't make the truck in our move to be shipped here in time for Christmas. Not that I care about " Stuff", actually I can see already I am not even missing much of it, except that our Christmas Tree and ALL our decorations and ornaments didn't make it. My children look forward to every year reminiscing the years of ornaments given to them each year from family and decorating the tree with them. I am sad to say... it will not make it for Christmas.

Since we aren't going to have our tree my mom brought over a tree. I took one look at the little dinky thing and the first thing that popped out my my mouth was

"Oh my, it's a Charlie Brown tree !"

She brought her ornaments and a few new ones for the kids. As I decorated the pathetic little thing, I had to be realllly careful that it wouldn't tip over since some of the ornaments were wayyyy too heavy for the little thing .

Well, in the end it turned out pretty cute. This will be my first Charlie Brown Tree since I was a kid in the 70's-80's. I guess it's not as bad as Charlie Browns looked.
Then I started to think it's really not all about a tree anyway. I am thankful from the bottom of my heart to be here... with my husband and kids. I am thankful for what God has done for me. I am thankful to even have a tree.

Even Charlie Brown was thankful for his little tree !

  1. It looks great , Mica. All the more welcome next year's tree w/ornaments will be:)And you won't have all the clean up and put away work! I think more families are enjoying less this year. It might actually turn out to be 'more'.

  2. I think your little tree is wonderful. I always loved the Charlie Brown Christmas Story and looked forward to watching it every year. Sadly they do not put it on over here.

  4. But, I love your tree. Yes, the best part of the tree is decorating and remembering all the special ornaments . We also opted to not buy a tree this year, I am not working much this month, thankful, I have a job still though. We decorated our palm. I took my very special lighted topper angel and she sits at the base of the tree. Jerry's Curious George ornament is the only one on the tree. I did get lights on it, but it is really starting to take it's toll, the branches are drooping. Still you will have this wonderful new memory. Don't forget why you have all those belongings still in the box that is not with you. Tracy

  5. It is a beautiful Tree and what a wonderful thought from your dear Mother.

I remember one year when the kids were little we had no money for a tree or for Christmas dinner so my Mother brought over a tree and dinner with all the trimmings. This is my first Christmas without my Mom and I miss her very much.

This tree has much love from your Mother as well as from your family with all the decorations and new memories it will create.

    I miss you guys!
