I love my little family. It all started when I met this wonderful guy. He changed everything. I was brought up in a broken home where it was unstable for the most part. It was a home where there was uncertainty and fear. It was a home where we were uprooted constantly because of one parents whims. That ended in a broken home when I was 13 years old. I truly can't even call it a home at all. Life was never truly the same. My parents were apart, for the better really, My Mother was a mess, my siblings were as broken as I. Soon thereafter both parents remarried. But the brokenness was still there...somewhere along the line the family was severed. This doesn't mean I don't love my family members it is just that the unity was never really there to begin with due to the years of unstable living, broken hearts and broken promises. This may just be my interpretation... But it is what I know. Once this wonderful Knight and Shining Armor appeared to me, he swooped me up and showed me unconditional love. The love I needed for so long. Then we got married and started a family of our own.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother,
and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Genesis 2:24
I have been completely comfortable with cleaving to this man. Then God took us from one place to the next, growing us in love and in truth uniting us as one. This was a chance for us to start new and start over as new creatures in Christ, to raise our family in His name. We were bound and determined to raise our children in a home that they can call home no matter where they are. A home where they can be guided, loved, uplifted and protected. They will not be brought up in a home where their parents fight, or a home where they are torn down or belittled. They will never know the suffering and the pain of that sort. Through these years of raising our children we have decided to have our holidays spent differently than the world's. Some family members may never understand this.... and that's okay. This is how our family does it. I would hope those would be happy for us. We have cultivated special traditions with our children that will surely be passed onto them when they start their own families one day. I am content and blessed with this new life given to me.
I am blessed and Thankful for my family.
Such a beautiful post Mica...it says much of who you are and what matters the most in your life. It is so evident in what you share here on your blog that you are so very happy and content in the lot God has chosen for you and your sweet little family. I too have memories of a very unsettled and traumatic childhood but,God is good and so faithful through all we endure in this life time.I am so happy that I have had the privilege of getting to know you and calling you friend and sister in Christ...thank you for always taking time to visit me and leaving such sweet comments....blessings always,Shelley
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful family Mica and a life many would envy. I had an unsettled and traumatic childhood as well. Sadly I carried it with me into my adulthood and allowed it to colour my choices. I wish I had been a lot wiser. Nevermind, I did finally find my Prince. I do wish it would have been in time to have had a family together though . . . that would have been bliss. xxoo
