Finally finished with the pears! I peeled, cut, cooked and canned 67 pounds of Bartlet pears which took me two day intervals. All together probably something like 8-10 hours of labor in the kitchen. Not only did I can the pears I also made a batch of pear butter. I am officially pooped out....
At least until I do my apple sauce later this month.
This goodness should last us all Winter. I canned a lot this Summer. I made strawberry jam, cherry jam, apricot jam, blueberry jam, canned tomato's, peaches, pears and pear butter. Whew! I gave a lot of jam away too! They always make great gifts for family and friends.
Ahh now to enjoy the fruits of my labor!
Happy Labor Day weekend!

You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands;
you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you
Psalm 128:2
Nothing prettier than freshly canned jars of goodness.Thought for a question..How do you store your can goods...do you have a cellar or pantry?...just call me nosy :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings on your holiday weekend...bet,you will be resting....am I right? :)
Mmmm! Loved seeing the pears! I grew up with my mom canning and freezing and jamming even while she workd full time. I dont know how she did it. I miss it. A move to NC didnt provide a good place to grow things. Oh and we had an old woman for a neighbor who let us pick her pears, cherries, and grapes!
