The Barn Dance

After last weekend's Civil War days we went to a good old fashioned barn dance. I was so giddy that my son stepped up as a sweet big brother to dance with his sister all night. It was so fun and yes even I participated in a couple of them. Mr. Darling couldn't come along since he has been writing papers for school. Poor dear....someday he will be able to enjoy things like that with us.

They had a table set with lemonade and old fashioned cookies. We felt like we were back in the olden days. I wish towns would have these dances more periodically. It was so much fun.

And.....Leave it to my son to find an instrument to play...He got up and started playing the bass with the group for a couple songs. It was awesome to listen to it. So this is how Laura Ingalls felt in her day. Well, tomorrow is the big day for my dear Mr. Darlings 40th birthday party.....See ya later.

English Country Dance

This weekend we gathered with our friends to celebrate
a special graduation in our Church family. It was a lovely
day in the country, under the trees we ate a divine dinner,
watched our friend graduate from Home School High School
and had the pleasure of  English Country dancing.

My children have been to
several of these type dances...
They are soooo fun!
Great exercise too!
Everyone had a great time dancing till the sun went down.

If you ever get a chance to go to one of these,
I highly recommend it!
Have a great Sunday!

Take Me Out To The Fall Ball....

This evening was very
special to my children.
They got dressed up to go to
The Fall Ball held by our
Homes School group &
Maestro's Speech & Debate Club.
Maestro accompanied his beautiful
sister Freckles to the dance.
This was Freckles first dance.
A young gentleman graciously
asked her for the first dance.
I was so crying!

And, I was so proud of her since she did a
wonderful job dancing the classic dances.
They dance The Virginia Reel,
The Waltz, The Patty Cake Polka
& The Gay Gordon to name a few.

Maestro danced with his friend to
several dances this evening.
There was no stepping
on toes with this guy!
He had it down, since he attended a
Spring Fling Dance last Spring.

A short intermission
before going back out
onto the dance floor.
Let me tell you...
These kids were
cuttin' the rug!

And of course...
Maestro saved the
last dance for Freckles.
Too sweet!!!
( Proud Mama with flutter in
her heart, fanning herself)
LOL

I just love these moments.
It was a night to remember!
