The Next Best Thing....

Bonjour....
This morning my girl and I went to France....Okay maybe not France...But the next best thing. We went down to Old Town to have French Crepes and cocoa. We learned that The French usually eat a small breakfast containing a pastry or crepes with hot cocoa or coffee.

Freckles wore her little beret...So French...
We enjoyed a lovely morning together at the Bistro sipping our hot cocoa together....Just her and I.

We watched them make our yummy crepes filled with Nutella, bananas and strawberries...
topped with whipped cream, sprinkled with powdered sugar....
Oh my...it was so good, so sweet....So fattening.

Our study on France thus far has been really fun. I can't wait to do Italy...
We will surely be eating Italian food somewhere.

Later in the week we will be baking some French pastries
and try our hand at making a dinner.

Today I am thankful for:

89. Special moments spent with my daughter, just her and I.

Au revoir....

Passport To France....

Hello everyone. This week Freckles started out ill again with the flu and fever. Poor dear couldn't stand to keep her head up with her head pounding and sore throat. I pretty much gave her the week off to rest. By the time Friday rolled around she was still a bit under the weather...yet, she had a little more spunk in her. I was planning on starting our unit studies on France earlier in the week...But since she was ill we held off....Until she felt better. We started it Friday....And love it...I ordered the Passport to France unit studies through Unit Studies by Amanda Bennett. We spent the morning by making our passport and watching video clips, geography lessons and cooking.
We cooked up one of our favorite things to eat...CREPES...

Freckles spent the rest of our day creating her first lapbook on France...Filling out maps, learning French words and numbers and drawing The Eiffel Tower. Then we went to the Library to pick out some books to read up on more facts and fun in France. This has been a really fun way to get creative while learning. We have already decided to get another Unit Study on Italy. We have lot's more to learn and add to the lapbook next week...Saturday morn we will make a special trip down to the Patisserie for some authentic French crepes and hot cocoa.

Today I am thankful for:
81. Being able to Home School
82. Fun lessons
83. The Library
84. Books
85. New things to learn about and be blessed by.
