Autumnal Acorns & A Fall Frock

Ahhh!
This week we decided to make a new
frock for Freckles in warm tones.
I searched my stash of fabrics and lace & found
the perfect fabrics to make a skirt.

As you may know already, Fall is one of our most
favorite times of the year.
The best part is seeing all the wonderful colors in the trees
and walking through leaves, picking up acorns.
We have collected many already...
sometimes the nuts are already gone,
left behind are only the caps.
Which we also collect, since you never know
what you might come up with.
For instance, this delightful brooch was inspired.

I made this darling brooch from brown velvet
I had stashed in my sewing box, and the cap fit perfectly on top!

I used an antique piece of jewelry,
linen ribbon and a lace scrap which I used in the skirt to match.
I then pinned it to Freckle's corduroy coat,
making her frock complete!

The day's are finally getting cooler...
Perfect weather for frolicking.
Freckles did just that.

She even had a chance to chase the butterflies in our back yard.
When she got out the butterfly net,
they coincidentally disappeared.
It was fun no matter though.
And she made a wonderful model too!

Freckles even made her big brother, Maestro model her coat & hat.
What a willing guy!
I am not sure if he liked it much,
but he was sweet enough to allow this picture.

We also wanted to share this sweet book written
by Max Lucado with an acorn theme...
And very inspiring.
The Oak Inside the Acorn is the story of the miracle
inside each of us
For within every child is the special person
God created, just waiting to grow.
