Year Twenty~One

We celebrated year Twenty~One this weekend.
I remember our wedding day as if it were yesterday. Waking up in the morning with my Nieces and my In Laws, they curled my hair and helped me get ready for the biggest day of my life. We went down to the Chapel and there waiting for me at the alter was my dear Mr. Darling who was smiling from ear to ear. My father in Law walked me down the aisle, tears streaming from my face. Mr. Darling reached for my hand, we shared our vows...in which I cried the whole way through them. They were not sad tears, they were tears of joy!
I finally married my best friend, my one true love.
It was Easter Sunday...
Our reception was an Easter lunch with my new family.
A day I will always cherish!

We have been through a lot!
These many years have brought us joy and sorrow, life and loss, and happiness and hardships.
I feel these things have grown us mentally, physically and spiritually, and have only brought us closer to not only one another, but closer to our Lord. His hand has been there through it all. A life we are thankful and grateful for, a life we truly don't deserve, but blessed by. He has opened our eyes to so much, even the hate that people have for us...But we endure these trials and conflicts with outsiders, knowing that we (As Christians) will be persecuted just as Christ was. Yet, He has also shown us much love through His people (fellow believers) A love that only a believer would truly know. We are truly blessed by those He has put into our lives, those who love us for who we are, who accept us for what we are and unconditionally love us and never seek something back in return nor stab us in the back.. or speak ill of us... We have on so many different accounts been lifted up and loved through prayer and acts of kindness and pure generosity from others through the name of Christ. It has been humbling and amazing. We are blessed to walk this life with the family of God.
I think of Ruth in the Bible, who left her people to be with Naomi, her mother in law. Making Naomi's people her people. She trusted in the Lord and never looked back. When I married my husband we were given this scripture from the Chapel Pastor who married us.

For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.”
Ruth 1:16-17

This quote from Ruth means a lot to me, for I feel this very way.
I am prepared for the road ahead, which will surely not be an easy one. But we will not be walking it alone. The Lord is with us to carry us through. I am ready!
I pray the Lord will bless us with many more years in marriage together.

20 Years

I married my best friend 20 years ago today.
It amazes me how time has flown by us so quickly. We have been through a lot together over the years. And I would surely do it all over again. Of course from the many years of learning these life lessons, I would want to do it even better. God gave us what He did and He knows what was and is best for us. We have grown through all the ups and downs, the losses, the pains but most of all we have grown in faith, in love, trust and the joys. We are not perfect, that is for certain, we admit those flaws, and try to be better everyday and sometimes it can be a struggle. It is hard work. But so very worth it. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Our flaws are stitched together with good intentions. It is amazing to me that God put us two together a little over 20 years ago for His own glory. He brought us to Him, together as we professed our faith in Jesus. He gifted us two beautiful children & one in heaven, and He carried us through trials and the best of this life. The outcome has been rewarding. Our faith in Him has grown as He has also led us to serve Him and His church. My wonderful husband is a man of God. He is my hero. An awesome husband, a delightful father and so easy to love. I am blessed, for God has given me such wonderful gifts.
I pray God will continue to bless our marriage in the years to come, that we would only grow closer, that I would be the best help meet I can possibly be to such a great man who is devoted and  loves me and our children unconditionally. I look forward to the next many years with this sweet man...A faithful husband indeed, my true love and the bestest friend
anyone could ever ask for.

Here is to many more.
I love you Mr. Darling
Forever and always!

16 Years Ago.....

 I married my best friend.
****
This day I married my best friend
...the one I laugh with as we share life's wondrous zest,
as we find new enjoyments and experience all that's best.
...the one I live for because the world seems brighter
as our happy times are better and our burdens feel much lighter.
...the one I love with every fiber of my soul.
We used to feel vaguely incomplete, now together we are whole.

Butterfield Bed & Breakfast Getaway....

Mr. Darling & I got back from our romantic Anniversary weekend getaway. We stayed at the Butterfield Bed & Breakfast in Historic Julian, just about an hour away from home. It was short but sweet. We checked into our cozy Feathered Nest room earlier in the day.

Then we went out for a stroll through some of the gift shoppes and antiques, had a nice dinner, came back, changed into our comfy Jammie's
and snuggled beneath the feathered down comforter reading, talking and just hanging out.
The room was adorable. A sweet little cottage country bird room fit for two lovebirds.
We stayed up really late eating popcorn, watching movies and cuddling.

A darling little owlet was there to welcome us as well.

I wanted to bring him home, but he just didn't go for it.

Outside our window beyond the lacy curtains we had the most beautiful view of trees, flowers, hills and wildlife. Yes, we saw blue jays and other lil' birds flying around, but the funniest visit we had in the morning was a wild turkey. The stinker ran away as soon as he saw we were watching him, so he missed out on a good picture opportunity.

We were served a full scrumptious gourmet breakfast from the hospitable inn keepers, Ed & Dawn. They made us feel like we were home away from home. We decided we would surely go back there and bring some friends with us next time... since there are many fun things to discover around there.

After breakfast we took a short brisk stroll around the grounds before checking out. We then went to several more Antique Shoppes, took a short rest at home, caught a movie and picked up our beloved wee children from our dear friends who kept them over while we had a nice time alone !!!
We had a great time together... and said over and over we look forward to many more wonderful years together. Yes, we are still in love !!!
