15 Candles

Our baby girl just turned 15.
Can't believe it...She has grown up so fast. By her request she wanted to invite her closest friends for a birthday party hang out/ outdoor movie/ sleepover. It was a great day for her...We set up the backyard with everything you could have to enjoy an outdoor movie. The girls enjoyed it as well. They stayed up till wee hours of the next morning and had fruit and muffins with orange juice..
Then everyone went home.

Oh Happy Day to my sweet Freckles!

Inspiration: Idea's For My Girl's Outdoor Movie Birthday Party

Our Inspiration for Freckles 15th candle is underway. The invites have been sent....Now for the planning and making. Freckle's wish for her day was to have a few girls over for a night under the stars while watching Breakfast At Tiffany's, eating movie goodies and having a sleepover while waking up in the morning to a lovely outdoor breakfast. We decided to set up our backyard with a movie screen and comfy seating...I am bound and determined to make a pallet bed for some seating...We will be using vintage quilts and Vintage granny afghans
with vintage fabric covered pillows.

There will be a lot of lighting/ ambiance with string lights, candles and lanterns...
As flowers will also be a part of the setting. A very nice feminine touch!

She also requested a layered cake with flowers on it. Something like this. We envision it to be vintage and colorful... Can't wait! We have two weeks before the big day! Will share as we go with what we came up with!

My Birthday

I celebrated my 43rd candle last week. Can't believe how fast the years are flying by. I had a good birthday this year...Even though we spent it a bit sick...It was quiet yet sweet. My Hubby spoiled me this year for our anniversary and birthday...giving me a bit of spending money. So...I went to a vintage/salvage shop and found a few pieces that fit perfectly in our home. I got a little old window, an old screen door, an awesome metal tool box and a vintage kitchen stool.

I didn't get very good pictures...I used my phone. But will share a little home tour soon with better pictures. I hung the old window in the kitchen area and the old screen above our television with a basket of flowers. I'm using the metal tool box on my dining table, just not sure what I want to fill it with as of yet. Then I added the stool to our breakfast bar. I'm going to be painting my dining table and switching out the chairs for a new look. Everything in our new home is coming together nicely. We are making it our home sweet home.

Thank you to all my friends, my MIL, my in laws, my dad and step mom, my brother and sweet Mr. Darling and my kids for wishing me the happiest birthday.
You guys are a very important part of my life.
You are blessings.

Sunflower Fields

We celebrated our sweet Freckles 14th birthday the other day. Every year we try to make birthdays special. We usually celebrate all week. Her day is a day that she gets to choose what she wants to do. This year was very low key. No parties or anything extravagant...It was simple but sweet. This year she chose instead of getting her gifts, to take her out on a shopping spree for some outfits. Okay...I am game! I took her out and we bought her four new dresses. She took some of her babysitting money and got a bunch of accessories from Claire's website.
Her daddy got her a bouquet of sunflowers (her favorite flower) and I made her a stuffed owl pillow for her bedroom. The morning of her big day I went out early to a cute donut shop and picked out a dozen of donuts and iced mochas. Instead of cake this year, we made a donut tower cake and sang happy birthday to her. It was really all she wanted. So sweet that girl is!

The UPS truck came by and dropped off a special delivery all the way from Washington too ...Her brother and his gal sent Freckles some birthday gifts. She got three handmade flower crowns, a cute owl journal which her big brother picked out all by himself...
She also got a pair of black lacey TOMS and an XBOX.
After all that excitement we took her out to a new burger joint in our area called Mooya...Which was good btw. Then we took her to a huge field of sunflowers. Yes, it was something she wanted to do. And it is one of her favorite kinds of flowers...

It was the perfect backdrop for some pictures...and yes the bees were kinda frightening...they were all over the flowers. Good news! We left without a sting. After that she wanted to go to the bookstore where she bought a book of course. We also hit a couple Thrift Shops. Then we headed home for a little rest before taking her to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner.

She was content.
It was a very good day indeed.
