An Unexpected Gift.......

Welcome to Show & Tell friday, hosted by Kelli of
Please join me in my show & Tell and share others by popping over her place..

This morning the post arrived... There was a box. I thought hmmm.. I didn't order anything, I wasn't expecting anything (???). As I opened it.. I sat there with mouth gaping open and tears in my eyes. A doll.. a doll from my favorite Doll Maker and friend, Teresa Baker ( Dolls Of Yore ) !!!!

A few days before Christmas a lovely fellow Doll Artist & collector passed away. Her name was Mary. Mary was Teresa's close doll friend who encouraged her through the past several years of her Doll Making career. After the passing of Mary, Teresa made a doll in her honor, this delightful little dolly she named "Mary".

I first laid eyes upon her, expressing my adoration to the little dolly, having absolutely no idea, Teresa would ever give this beloved dolly away as a gift. She did, expressing and spreading the love she was given by Mary, the doll maker. Mary was known as a very giving person, spreading her love amongst many lives. In return Teresa thought it was fitting. Perhaps Mary would have liked it that way. I am honored to have her in my home and very thankful to Teresa. "Little Mary" will be treasured by me till the end of my little days.

These dolls are sewn with love, patience and true skill. They are so beautiful. I have long admired and have been inspired by her work, as well as the blessing of her friendship and her invitation to The Coffee With Tea Doll Group last year. These are some of her pieces, all made with love by her talented hands.

Some of my dolly's came to greet her. Mary was even sung to, after the long trip and the dark box, she was quite frightened indeed and that was the only way to sooth her.

She was then presented a special chair in my home. I think she might like it here. Thanks again Teresa !!!

Thank You for stopping in this week for Show & Tell. Hope to see you again !!!
