Literary Tea / Home Tour

Well to begin!
My son got his permit to drive....Now he's on the road.
He drove me & Freckles up to the Country for our monthly
Literary Tea with our girlfriends on Saturday.
 He did a great job!

We arrived in one piece!
The tea table was set as usual...with all sorts of tea type foods,
finger sandwiches, fruit and four flavors of tea for our palette.

It is always such a treat to have tea with our girl friends once a month.
It is something we look forward to every second weekend.
We feel like Princesses with all the delectable sweets!

Avery read a prayer from Vision Forum then read several
stories from Wise Words as well as the first two chapters of
House of Love
 by Elizabeth Cheney in 1914.
This is a perfect read for tween/teen girls. Not only does it address many of the pitfalls that adolescent girls succumb to, such as vanity, selfishness and pride, it also has one of the best endings ever. As the story of young Doris unfolds, girls will be reminded that true beauty lies within, and a virtuous young lady is worth more than gold. Little Doris is a worthy mentor for any young lady.

Freckles really enjoyed the literature this last Saturday.
We shall eagerly await next month!

I know I say this every time we come home from our tea...But, if there is any way at all you can organize a Literary Tea with your girls, friends etc once a month... I highly recommend the time of fellowship and good literature which has been a blessing to us and will surely be one to you and yours. Girls in this day and age need loving mentors and friends as well as good literature which is hard to come by these days. It is a lovely time spent, in a safe and homey atmosphere and great fellowship with those who simply have the same world views as you.

We always love the drive to the Country to visit .... I thought I would give you a glimpse of my friend's humble home. She is such a delight and has made a modest homey atmosphere for her family. Her home is very relaxing, with soothing in colors. I think it is quite beautiful and feminine. Her little vignettes throughout her home give you the sense of cozy! Simple yet elegant decorating like the bird cage filled with persimmons which grows in her orchards! simply pretty!

Her gorgeous transfer ware in a plate rack...
More persimmons just simply place in a pretty dish.
 Love the colors!

She has little pumpkins & vines on shelves...simple & sweet!

Books on shelves, antique pieces mixed with new pieces!

Hints of lace, pretty boxes, gift books, candles....

Old rugs coupled with earth toned couches and soft robins egg blue pillows...Charming!

I love her old piano with elegant lamps with the old mirror
which went to an old dresser back in it's day.
Down the hallway she has done some pretty faux brick texture...It is so pretty in person...

The same sort of faux texture is in the bath as well..
Her home is very earth toned and flows throughout!
It is really quite calming.

I hope you enjoyed her sweet home.
She is such a gracious hostess.
Until next time!
I am linking up with Raising Homemakers
be sure to drop in and see other home making goodness!

  1. What a lovely idea Mica! And thanks for your wonderful cards--my daughters made a beeline for them and wrote two cards to their aunt in the nursing home:-)
