Summer Faire Workshop~ Tomato Wreath & Sweet Tea and a Whole Lotta Jesus!

I am actually pretty excited that I decide to take this online Summer Faire Workshop through

  Yes & Amen.

I really have needed a little push to just start doing art work again. It has been a struggle since a couple years ago and some rough roads we were on in life and the passing of my Gramma took me out for another year. I miss her so much. She loved my art, it made her smile. It was about a month ago I decide to try out this workshop...It is a three week class filled with water coloring, art projects, sketching, journaling and some cooking projects. The first class was sketching and water coloring a tomato wreath. My paints turned out nice and vibrant too! pretty happy with it so far. Totally Summer lovin' here!

Another daily project Junelle called, is Morning Glory~ 

A morning glory is a beautiful, fast growing, twirling, seeking-the-sun, kind of vine.  It is constantly growing.  It is different every single day.  It is beautiful and playful and creatively making it's way up, up, up.  The play on words to make *morning glories* into a time of daily practice, of gratitude or devotion is a simple one.  Claiming a bit of time each day to see, be amazed, and grow? 

 I love that!

It might be a time to:

sketch a bit of something each day

take photographs of how the sun rests on things

write a little list of precious gifts that come to mind

write out a little prayer and encircle it with watercolors

try a tiny watercolor each morning 

take a walk & look up (like a morning glory)

sketch a morning glory

stretch and breathe

My first Morning Glory was painting this little picture of a favorite tea of mine. For me drinking tea and spending time with the Lord go hand in hand. I like my tea in many forms, hot or cold. A fave for sure is sweet iced tea. My thinking while painting this little piece was~

"Sweet Tea and a whole lotta Jesus!"

Yes and Amen!

So far I am loving it...

Summertime Painting....Checking Off The Summer Bucket List...

Today we crossed off yet another Summer project craft off our Summertime Bucket list. Yahoo. A few weeks back I went to Joann's and picked up a couple
 social artworking painting  projects
 & some canvas. Using my 40% off coupon I only spent $15.00 on all the things we needed. I already have a bunch of paints and brushes...so we didn't need much more than that...only a couple colors were needed. Freckles chose a sunflower picture. I chose a bowl full of cherries.
 
This project is really easy. It comes with tracing paper, a pattern and complete instructions & supply list. You simply trace on the pattern to your canvas and start painting. The project takes 1.5-2 hours.
 It was a great way to fill up our Summer afternoon.
 
Freckles really enjoyed this one. It was great for her to do the project all by herself, following directions to the end. Even though she painted it a bit different...That was her own doing. he didn't want it to be exact.

We really loved how they turned out. I love that it was a project we got to do together. Mama & Daughter bonding time is just what we needed. Now to pick our next art activity.

Rainbow Polka Dot Shoes Tutorial...

Today Freckles & I wanted to have a little fun with color. My Daughter loves color....So we thought with her love of art, fashion and color, we would combine them all in a fun project. Here you have it...We also wanted to share with our readers, so we made this tutorial for you. This craft is so easy...
Most any child /tween/teen or adult can have fun with this one.

Supplies:
1. Acrylic paint in your choice of color...
We went with a rainbow of colors.
2. Canvas shoes...We chose white ones.
 You can use any color canvas shoe.
We found ours at Walmart for $5 a pair.
3. A thimble
4. Fine Paint brush. Optional. Just in case you need
to fill in any color that didn't stamp on.
5. Colored shoelaces.
We got ours at The Dollar Tree
6. News print for table surface, paper towels,water, paint plate
  
Take your canvas shoes and pull out the laces. Lay out your news print on table surface so you won't get paint on your furniture. Fill a glass of water for cleaning brush and thimble. Have your paper towel handy. Squirt out a blob of each color you are using onto a paint plate or paper plate. You will be using the stamping method for this project. Fun and easy. Take the thimble holding the top, dip into the paint color and stamp the canvas shoes where you wish to have that color. We used one color at a time, stamping in random places. After you use your first color, wash the thimble in the water and dry with paper towel.
 Now you can use the next desired color, randomly stamping your canvas shoes, being careful not to smudge and letting paint dry in between colors. Repeat process until you are happy with color choice and placement. Make sure they are completely dry before you lace up your shoes with colorful shoestrings.
    
Now your ready to lace up.
Put them on with a cute outfit and your ready for some fun.

The Clay Room...

 
Today Freckles and I went to The Clay Room, a local pottery shop in our town. They were having a class on making owls from clay which I thought would be perfect since Freckles adores owls. And she has never taken a clay/pottery class before. The studio is owned by a sweet Christian/homeschooling lady.
        
It was fun watching her class. I love to see my daughter get all creative.
 She was having a great time creating her owl.
   
We had to leave it behind as it take a few weeks for the final piece to be finished..It needs to dry for a week, then gets fired. This was a fun project to fill our long Summer day. Hopefully we will be able to take another class sometime. Getting creative is so fun.

Spring Nest Craft....

Today we spent the afternoon making some Springtime crafts. I found some fun ones on Pinterest and thought we could give it a try. It was fun making a mess just like back in Kindergarten. Except we didn't eat the glue today. I pulled out the supplies which I had on hand already...Easy as 1, 2, 3....

A bottle of school glue and a foam brush.

Brown lunch sacks, a bowl and plastic wrap...In my case it's foil  ( I didn't have any plastic wrap)...Still worked great. I pulled out the old paper shredder and let Freckles shred the bags into a box.

Don't forget you will also need a serious crafter like mine.

Okay...So, we lined the outer part of the bowl with foil...and started spreading on the glue and shredded papers...We then layer it with glue and more paper and more glue...It got a little sticky as we also used our hands to mush it all together.
 
Once the bowl was completely covered with paper and glue. We put it outside for the afternoon...about 1-2 hours in the sun worked for us til it was dry. We then carefully pulled the foil off the bowl with paper in tact. Now we had a paper bowl with foil inside. We left the foil there and filled the nest with some extra shredded paper and some of that paper shredded gift stuff you buy. We also added a few red paper scraps for color and pop. Lastly we added a sweet birdy we got from
 The Dollar Store craft section and a few vintage chenille peeps...

Voila...You now have a sweet Spring Nest.
You can fill yours with whatever your little heart desires...Easter eggs, candy...
whatever. It is totally cute and was totally fun and easy to make. Freckles gives it a five star rating.
