Summer Faire Workshop~ Seed Packets

I can't even tell you how good for the soul this workshop has been for me. It has been so long that I have really created anything much in the past couple years. On top of that, I am pretty new to water colors and actually like it quite a bit. It is very forgiving...As well as inspiring and fun. This lesson was by Artist Valerie Weller...She showed her versions of seed packets and encouraged the students to either do what she was doing or come of with something of your own. I decided to do my own thing using her techniques. I drew/designed up my strawberry packet on my own, but the watermelon seeds with the little girl on it was inspired by an antique/vintage seed packet. I just had to paint her...It was adorable!

This week Valerie has another project with herb pots (so cute)...

I am doing mine on a canvas board. Hope it turns out good. Well that's all I got for today!!!

Summer Faire Workshop~ The Little Farm House

Almost finished with the first week of  The Summer Faire Workshop. 

This project was really cute! Junelle calls them Window Cottages. 

A little house/cottage painted on a wooden block, 

with a paper roof. I made it my little farm house. 

I think I need a couple more in my life. 

Feeling Fruity~ Summer Faire Fruit Wreath Project

For this project we had to choose 5~6 fruits we wanted in our fruit wreath. I chose cherries, peach, grapes, blueberries, pear and raspberries. I am so glad I'm taking this workshop. It has given me a great boost and inspiration to create again. I am loving how vibrant my water coloring is. You can almost eat the fruit right off this page.

The class/workshop is nice. Junelle teaches with easy shapes and has made several videos to watch as she completes each piece. I love how we outline in black pen and speckled paint over the piece as well. It gives it dimension and whimsy. Can't wait to share more with you all. Summer Faire Workshop~ Tomato Wreath & Sweet Tea and a Whole Lotta Jesus!

I am actually pretty excited that I decide to take this online Summer Faire Workshop through

  Yes & Amen.

I really have needed a little push to just start doing art work again. It has been a struggle since a couple years ago and some rough roads we were on in life and the passing of my Gramma took me out for another year. I miss her so much. She loved my art, it made her smile. It was about a month ago I decide to try out this workshop...It is a three week class filled with water coloring, art projects, sketching, journaling and some cooking projects. The first class was sketching and water coloring a tomato wreath. My paints turned out nice and vibrant too! pretty happy with it so far. Totally Summer lovin' here!

Another daily project Junelle called, is Morning Glory~ 

A morning glory is a beautiful, fast growing, twirling, seeking-the-sun, kind of vine.  It is constantly growing.  It is different every single day.  It is beautiful and playful and creatively making it's way up, up, up.  The play on words to make *morning glories* into a time of daily practice, of gratitude or devotion is a simple one.  Claiming a bit of time each day to see, be amazed, and grow? 

 I love that!

It might be a time to:

sketch a bit of something each day

take photographs of how the sun rests on things

write a little list of precious gifts that come to mind

write out a little prayer and encircle it with watercolors

try a tiny watercolor each morning 

take a walk & look up (like a morning glory)

sketch a morning glory

stretch and breathe

My first Morning Glory was painting this little picture of a favorite tea of mine. For me drinking tea and spending time with the Lord go hand in hand. I like my tea in many forms, hot or cold. A fave for sure is sweet iced tea. My thinking while painting this little piece was~

"Sweet Tea and a whole lotta Jesus!"

Yes and Amen!

So far I am loving it...

As I go I will share the projects and paintings I do!

Photo Painting

Today I played around with painting photos on my computer. 

Pretty cool eh?

This & That...

 Today I am writing a miscellaneous post...Since I am really sick right now. I started feeling sick over the weekend., so went to the doctor today...Unfortunately I have bronchitis again. My son is sick too...He's been feeling down and out since his trip to the Sierra's. Hopefully we'll start feeling back to ourselves soon.

  

Thank you to all who stopped in and took their time to wish my daughter a Happy Birthday. She had a great 12th b-day. She had birthday waffles, we roamed around the bookstore...a favorite place we go...I love flipping through and keeping up with all the magazines I can't afford. LOL.
 Then we took her to see Spider Man ( her request ) After the movie we took her to Red Robin for dinner.
 She got some presents and cards and a couple birthday calls. It was a good day indeed.

     

Over the weekend we celebrated our really good friend, Geoff's wedding to a sweet gal. Some ladies from church have a catering business and hosted the reception for our friends. I was also hired to take pictures of the food and tables for the ladies business. Above is just one that I took. I will probably share more later...just to make y'all hungry. HA... It was a wonderful occasion.
We are thrilled beyond mention that they got hitched.

Here's some owl art my daughter has done.
Above is a sweet painting she did for her friends birthday.
It is adorable isn't it? Her friend loved it.

She also sculpted this owl in a clay class she took over the Summer.
So cute.

I can't believe Summer is almost over. We'll be starting school soon.
There's still some things off our Summer Bucket list we have to accomplish before Summer ends. I'm happy we crossed off quite a bit so far. Have you all had the chance to do what you wanted to do this Summer?

I Myself Am Entirely Made Of Flaws....

   

Inspired by a painting an artist friend did...I painted up my version of a flying angel. It felt so good to collage and paint again. I also love how this turned out...It really reflects the quirkiness in me as well as the colors in my home. The quote also reflects me. Made of flaws stitched together with good intentions. Love it. I think I may just have to start painting again...

 I have some other things up my sleeve. I got my mojo back. Yahoo.

Coming soon...New artwork. Yay.

 Seven more days till Freckles birthday.

She is going to be 12. I can't believe it. She is growing up so fast.

She's hoping her bestie can come over and have a slumber party...

and next week Gramma and Grampa is taking her to the zoo.

Lot's of stuff to look forward to.

My Sunny Simple Sunday Farmgirl Kitchenette Redo....

Hello, Hello.
I have been a Busy Bee this weekend. A little over a year ago I found this sweet 50's kitchenette set.. the table and two chairs were on sale at the thrift Shop. I had good intentions to paint it and re-cover the chairs...but just wasn't happening. And, since I am in the midst of packing up boxes for our move.
 ( Still don't know where yet)
I needed a creative outlet since I won't be focusing on decorating here in this home. I still have more painting with a few other pieces...that will come soon. For now, I wanted to share what I accomplished. For our love of color and Vintage Farmgirl Kitschy Style...I went bold. Here is my rendition of Farmgirl Kitsch.  
My neighbor was having a garage sale a couple weekends ago and I spotted a little 50's chair that would go perfect with the other two chairs that came with my table. My sweet neighbor & I made a trade...I gave her 5 lbs. of apricots for the chair...Sounded like a great deal to me. I painted it Robins Egg Blue. And left the other two the white finish I got them in. I then got out my bucket full of scrappy goodness fabrics and pulled together scrappy quilted covers...I finished two...Just one more to go.
 I love, love, love the colors and fabrics together.
 ( Happy Dance)

  

My white table...became a Sunny Yellow...Oh how I am loving it. I added another wooden chair to the mix...When I use the leaf I have yet another little wooden chair and a small bench,
which will then seat 6 around this little table. 
I even set the table just for you.
I made four cute little napkin rings to match my fabrics.
Come back Monday to see a tutorial I put together on how to make them.   
This just makes me smile.
Next on my list of things to do is...
My kitchen hutch...
My glass doored book case for my living room...
 Freckles dresser...
Yet, another dresser and a bookshelf.
Then I will do my outdoor patio furniture....
Perhaps when we're moved.
