October Sketches 20~26

Day 20
~BERRIES~

This month is almost coming to a close! Boy, has it passed by quickly. I caught up with more sketches for the challenge I took this month. It was fun. There are a few more before the month ends...But feel that a few of the word prompts will probably will be put together into one picture. Will share later...For now here are the next seven sketches/watercolor/paintings I did in the challenge.

Day 21
~SWEATER WEATHER~

Day 22
~BLANKET/QUILT~

Day 23
~DEER/ANTLERS~

Day 24
~CANDY~

Day 25
~CAT~

Day 26
~HOT COCOA~

I enjoyed these sketches quite a bit. I love how the pumpkin turned out. I painted the deer/antlers for Freckles...The quilts make me happy..I decided to make the whole paper the quilts..The berries in the top picture represent Lingonberries ...One of my favorite preserves in the Fall...Perfect pairings with Swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes...And after drawing that picture, I went to the grocery and got some, cooked up some Swedish meatballs and mash for one of our dinners...It was soooooo good! You eat it like you would a cranberry sauce! And one of my faves is actually the tea cup with cocoa in it...It could also be tea inside the cup...Since I love tea...
Well that's all I got for today...I am still recovering from the flu and a cold on top of it from the last couple weeks...So I am off, until next time!

Watercolor Sketches 15~19

Day 15~ Umbrella

Day 16~ Barn

Day 17~ Old Truck

Day 18~ Corn

Day 19~ Pine Cone

I'm still in it! Doing this daily sketching challenge has been really good for me since I am not a creature of new habits. It has been a fun challenge too! I love stepping outside of the lines and coming up with something that most people won't think of. Like The Fisher Price Barn or the corn on the cob with a face in it. I like to add a little quirky to my work if I can. I did get behind due to the flu but catching up by drawing two a night...By tonight I will be caught up. So I guess technically I haven't sketched everyday due to illness...but hey, good intentions!
Hope you like my little sketches. Perhaps it will give you some inspiration to draw a little too!
Happy Autumn!

Life Lately & Free Autumn Subway Art Print

Life lately has been quiet. The weather in Cali is still warm. The trees are slow to do their thing...Though there are small signs of Autumn...It does not feel like it has arrived as of yet. The nice thing about where we live is that we get a nice cool breeze in the evening...Not enough to get you in the mood for sweaters and jackets. Surely it will come at some point. It get's so warm here that we are still actually running our air conditioner. Crazy, I know. It is Autumn though...Even if it's hot I still like to do things and make memories with my family during whatever season it is. Baking is a big part of Autumn and Winter. A lot of time is spent in the kitchen canning, baking cookies or breads, making breakfasts and soups. My daughter informed me at age 15....She had never had a caramel apple!!!! WHAT!!!! What kind of Momma am I to keep this delightful treat from my kids? I was like. really!!!??? I don't know how this has happened...what kid has never had a caramel apple before? Well we took care of that right away and made caramel apples together last night...And it was good. Later we will be making candy apples as well. This girl is no longer going to go on without experiencing these Fall goodies.

Oh have y'all seen the new Pioneer Woman line at Walmart? So stinkin' cute...and yes I jumped on the band wagon and picked up some bowls and a buttah dish...It was a need anyway. The bowls will be perfect for soup nights...They are not only pretty, they are large and deep....The buttah dish...I needed a new one since my old one broke over two years ago...So there you have it...Go check it out if you haven't already!

Speaking of dishes...My awesome, thoughtful, beautiful Mother in Law AKA Momma Chickki sent me some Pyrex... Oh how she knows I love using Pyrex. It was like getting a Christmas or birthday package when it's not and just because. I just love sweet surprises!

I made this Autumn Subway Art several years ago...However I added in S'mores since selling them on Etsy. This is now a FREE Print for you! You can copy and paste onto your computer. If you are interested in a better copy to use for printing or a PDF...
Please leave me a comment and I can send it to you!
It looks adorable framed!!!
Happy Weekend!!!

Watercolor~Sketches Days 9~14

I have been having so much fun challenging myself to keep up with this October sketch challenge I joined up with. Each day I have to draw/sketch a picture from a word prompt.
So far I am keeping up and lovin' it!!!
My Day 9 sketch
"HAY"
I drew up this sweet piggy in some hay...
What would hay be without a cute pig eh???

Day 10
"BOOTS"
This is so far one of my favorite sketches.
If I could find me some boots like this...
I would so wear them with a dress!

Day 11
"APPLES"

I went outside the box on this one, while everyone doing the challenge is sketching yummy apples and baskets etc... I drew an oldie but goody...
A Vintage 70's Fisher Price toy from my childhood days.

Day 12
"WARM & COZY"

What screams more warm and cozy than a scene out in the woods cuddled up with the love of your life bundled up in coats, scarves, hats and afghans next to a crackling fire. Now that is cozy y'all!!!

Day 13
"FOOTBALL"
I gave this one to Mr. Darling...He loved it!!!

DAY 14
"OWL"

I did this sweet little vintage owl figurine for this word prompt. The funny thing is, my daughter was just asking if I would sketch and paint an owl for her...Just so happens that owl was my next word to sketch. So of course I did this piece especially for my girl.

More to come!!!!

October Sketching 1~8

I've been following along with an October Sketch a Day challenge hosted by an Instagram/blogger I follow. I decided to do the challenge to get me back into the groove of enjoying art and drawing. I am not very good at lettering and new to watercolors in general so it's a good fit...even if they don't look all that great. It's just practice. The challenge is taking the one word given once a day and turn it into a sketch. So every night before I go to bed I sit in my sewing studio and sketch out the word of the day. The first word was "LEAVES". So I did a quick simple sketch and outlined it with a black pen, So far so good...I am keeping up!!!

"PIE"

"FALL Y'ALL"

"ACORN"

"SUNFLOWER"

"FAIR"

"CAMPFIRE"

"PLAID"

*****

It's actually kind of fun...I really love the fair, campfire and plaid....
I will share more October Sketches as the weeks pass by...
Thanks for hopping in today.
Hope Y'all have a great weekend! Happy Friday!

Franny In Her Feed Sack Frock

I am so excited! I made a doll....After a very long hiatus...I actually got the courage up to make a doll again. I made her especially for the County Fair in my area which will be in just a couple weeks. I dropped her off along with 6 jams I made over the Summer. We shall see if I get a ribbon for anything. Even if I don't win...That's alright too! It was fun to finally accomplish a piece of art. And has refreshed me to want to do more projects. I wanted this doll to represent my quirky side....Franny is funny and quite colorful wearing real vintage feed sack fabrics from the 30's~40's...
I am really happy with how she turned out!

In The Sewing Studio

We moved into our new home about five months ago and I am finally getting my sewing studio space set up and decorated. I just haven't had time to get it done....Finally decided since school is back in session next week that I probably should start setting up shop and get some stuff made for future shows or selling online. Not really sure as to where I am going to take my goodes...But at least have a goal to get some inventory made.

Sorry if the pictures are horrible. They are from my phone which were transferred to my Instagram then copied to put on my blog. I think you can get the gist of how it is coming together. I am getting excited to get back to creating after so long....

Over this last weekend I actually sat down with some of my vintage fabrics and vintage feedsack cloth and made some jeweler and a few needle minders. It was great getting my crafty on!!! I also began work on a funky doll which I am entering into the County Fair at the end of the week. I am also bringing a bunch of jams and preserves I made this Summer for judging. Maybe just maybe I will get a ribbon for something.

I still have a bunch of work to do on the doll, in the sewing room and need to finish a couple priority must do's for a couple people. Then I can get this party started! So excited!!!
