Trust...

Today was a big day for our little girl who has been wanting her ears pierced for some time now. She happened to get a pair of earrings from her Aunt for her birthday but couldn't wear them , for she doesn't have holes for them to go into. Well, we decided that she was big enough to get them done. All night she was excited, then all morning she wanted to GO, GO, GO to get them done. Oh the anticipation!! We got to the Mall, walked to The Piercing Pagoda, then suddenly fear set in.

" Will it hurt?"

I replied,

"Well, let's watch this person and see what you think first "

"Well it was fine for them... so maybe I will be alright", she said.

"You'll be okay honey we'll be right here with you"

She wanted to hold my hand during the process, yet you could still see on her face, a touch of fear for the unknown. They decided to pierce them at the same time to get it over with. Holding tightly to my hand they pierced her sweet baby ears... she didn't really cry til after the fact. She said " It wasn't that bad after all" It's the fear of not knowing or trusting.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5)

"The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe." (Proverbs 29:25)

Trusting in the Lord as well as the people who pierced her wee ears helped her through. Especially in the end when her Daddy held her as she cried.

You will be happy
You shall be safe in your surroundings

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

As evening came... she has already shared the news with several people and is very happy about her new " PINK SPARKLY" earrings she got !!! I told her tonight she didn't have to fear after all... she said I was right.

  1. Awwww! She looks so beautiful with her new earrings. What a treat!

I had mine done at 3 years old, and I can remember it H-U-R-T!!! She must have a high pain tolerence, or they must have a different method in this century, LOL!

  2. Oh my baby got her ears pierced?
Love you sweet Bri and you look so pretty with those sparkly earrings!

You are braver than I Bri. I didn't get mine done until I was in my late 20's and then I used self piercers...took three days for the thing to finally break the skin!

    See you soon sweetie!
    Love You

  3. I remember the anxiety of having my ears pierced. Luckily those nice little guns make it practically painless. I had to wait until I was 11 to have mine done. I was so excited to turn 11 and finally get them pierced. Made it a special birthday for me, and I was old enough to take care of them by that time too!

Glad she came through it well!

  5. Hi Bri,
You are growing up more and more every day into a fine young lady. What a beautiful gift to get pierced ears. I'm sure you'll love being able to dress your ears up too.

I love this post, and the message is sweet. Sometimes fear of something really is worst then what we expect, in the end.

I hope you will be able to heal well and keep them clean so the earrings can stay in and nice. You're pretty responsible for 8 so I'm sure you'll take good care of them. The pictures with your new earrings are very pretty.

    Love,
    Aunt Crystal
