Playful Entryway

I decided to tweak & spruce up my entryway. I used to have a little dark wooden writing desk in this area but decided to donate it to a good cause in our community. Now, I needed something that would brighten up the empty space, that screamed "ME" and would be welcoming to anyone who comes to visit. My solution was simple. I love simple. I brought out this sweet dresser I thrifted a while back...I got a great deal on it from a shop that helps children with disabilities. I love knowing the money I gave is helping a disabled child and their family.

Since we are on a very very tight budget...I had to be creative with what I was going to use to decorate the dresser and space. I had to simply use what I already had. Simple enough. Pictures of my kids sweet faces, some colorful nick knacks from around the house a lamp from my family room.

The little red bird from my bathroom,
a little canvas of a tin tea cup from my kitchen,
a chalkboard I made from an old cabinet door...

The little vintage globe I thrifted for 3 bucks that sat in my family room now placed on my daughter's little red chair which was gifted to her from grandparents when she was just a baby. Oh so sweet.

I hung the folk art canvas painting I did recently above the dresser giving the space a playful spin and a colorful pop. I am very pleased with the outcome. Simple things you have around the house placed on a simple white dresser in an entry way is simply sweet.

  3. What a wonderful post! I read your blog header and was touched by your poignant statement. "There is no greater joy than knowing that our children are walking in truth"...for a lifetime. We are expecting a new grandchild in a few months and this is my heart's desire for him, too.
Thank you for sharing your charming vignette, my friend.
    Blessings,
