Saturday Tid Bits...

Happy Saturday.
Just popping in to say a sweet hello to my readers...And had to share a few tid bits. Freckles and I made a sweet treat and just had to share these yummy dipped cherries. I picked up some juicy cherries, which were mighty good mind you...Perfectly plump and sweet...We dipped them in chocolate and red candy melts then dipped them in sprinkles. It was a small cheat on ye' ole' diet...But well worth it. I promised Freckles, next time we would do strawberries....Her favorite.

Another peek into our little bird friends nest...And they have changed again...They are getting in their feathers and coloring. Soon these little bundles will be flying away. Oh, and I spotted number four...which I thought didn't make it. So we have four baby birds. Affectionately named...Winnie, Ethel, Pip & Birdy.

I've also been working on some other projects which I have been meaning to do for quite some time...Here is a little sneak peek...I will share it all on Sunday as I will be joining in Sunny Simple Sunday again. So come on back to see what I have been working on.
Oh, and I forgot to mention this last week...I added more goodies to our
More will be added throughout the week...So keep your eyes peeled.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
See ya back here Sunday.

Scrappy Christmas Tree Mug Rug

Is it Christmas yet???
I'm starting to sound like a kid...
I finished my Scrappy Christmas Tree Mug Rug this weekend.
I made mine red of course!
I love it!

This really gets me in the mood for Christmas cheer!
I even had some hot cocoa in a Santa mug I got thrifting.
Isn't he the Jolly Ole' Fellow?

I made my own binding and added one of my fave Christmas
fabrics to the back of my mug rug, which makes it reversable.

Hope this gets you in the mood...
I think it's almost time to play some Christmas music!
Have a blessed Sunday!

Coming Right Along....

Here are the next four blocks for my scrappy quilt... Whew! I just can't wait for it all to come together... I am pretty pleased with it this far. Yet, Pleasant Home already came out with a new project...I think I may de-rail a little this weekend to whip up the new project.... It will probably only take a couple hours for it. go check it out...this one will make great Christmas gifts!

I am already compiling my Christmas projects for my kids...Since this year with hard times we are only giving homemade gifts. My kids will appreciate anything! Thank God for that. I am just thankful I don't have to feel the pressure of keeping up with the Jone's!

I will share with you soon the couple gifts I have going for my daughter first. It is so easy to please a 10 year old girl...I am a bit stumped on my 16 year old boy...If  ANYONE knows of any ideas for hand made gifts for a teenage boy...please, please let me know your thoughts. I have searched the web and hardly anything comes up... I know for sure he is getting flannel jamma pants.*wink*.

I will try to get a few blocks done as well this weekend...
With all the other million and one things I have going on...
I am having fun doing it though!

*Don't forget to scroll down to my previous post...

Quilt Block Update & Chili Cook Off

Last week I worked on my scrappy quilt project for the Sew Scraps Along With Pleasant Home. So here are my first four blocks. I will share the next four Wednesday when I am also having a Scrappy Fabric Give Away! So be sure to come back for a chance to win a bag full of fabric goodies. I am quilt pleased  (lol) with my first blocks. I have gathered up some of my 30's repro scraps to put in each block.

I can't wait to finish it up, but have all these other projects on my plate.
I figure if I can get two ~ four blocks done a day
I could gather enough for a quilt within a couple weeks.
 We'll see about that though.

On another note: This weekend was our annual Chili Cook Off & Reformation Day Celebration. Freckles & I made desserts for the Chili Cook Off festivities. I made a Candy Apple & Walnut Pie...Freckles made a Cherry Chocolate Cheese Cake... It turned out so pretty.

My son made his first chili and entered it into the contest. I was so proud of him. We made chili like my sister's, but tweaked it a bit... it turned out very good, with the perfect hint of spice and a touch of sweet... Not too sweet though... It had to be somewhat spicy!

It was so spicy and hot around there,
that the Fire Department came out!

Somebody called 911!
Sadly it was really for a church member who was feeling dizzy and faint...He didn't even have a chance to eat any of the chili. As far as we hear, all is fine, nothing was found wrong with him...In the meantime, the judging went on... My son didn't win first prize..( except in my eyes)!!
Here we have it the new Chili King who knocked
our Pastor out of The Crown and trophy.

Congrats Mark!

Okay dear readers... meet me back here on Wednesday for a chance to win my scrappy fabric give away... and Thank you also to those who stopped by for my gratitude Give away last week...
Blessings!!!

Sew Scraps Along

I am home!
Just got back from my sisters house helping her out while she was recooping from surgery. All went well.Thank you everyone who sent her well wishes. We spent time caring for her, cooking dinners, shopping, taking her boy's to and from their school. Tried to do our schooling there as well as doctor visits.etc... I was able to finish up the pear canning as well as some dehydrating fruit, but didn't work on any dolls like I wanted. That's okay. Now that we are home we will get some things done from my list. perhaps a few dollies and start on my scrappy quilt!
I have joined up with Pleasant Home
for a fun Sew Scraps Along !If you have a bunch of scraps..stop over Jodi's blog and let her know you want to sew along! Hopefully I can keep up with her, since I have a billion and one other things going.
Now, I am off to get my scraps together.

This is the first project we are sewing along!
The photo's are taken from Jodi's blog.
This is just one of her gorgeous pieces out of many!!!
 Join in the fun!!!
