Pastel.....

I came into Freckles room...
It was so bright and cheery as the sun shown through her bedroom window.
I thought I would give you a few glimpses of her room and some of her collections. The top pic. is of her antique dresser given to her from her Gramma in Washington.
This is of course where she keeps her clothes and keeps some of  her favorite things on top.

This darling vintage furry yellow ellie was surely
well loved for years until we adopted her.
She will get many more years of love I am sure.
Her sweet tin was a thrifting find for a buck...
she keeps her earrings and other jewelery in it.
It fits perfectly with her room colors too!

If you can't tell already, she loves elephants!
I made her this cute pink sugar elephant from a vintage spool
which already had the yummy pink thread on it. See the old talcum powder?
Not only is it a pretty canister, it still has the powder in it,
which she uses sometimes after a bubble bath.

This sweet elephant planter has been with us for quite a while...
Freckles keeps little treasures in it...

Remember the Ellie I made her for Christmas?
She sits happily on the dresser and gets frequent hugs and kisses.

We didn't unpack all her vintage dolls since her room is much smaller on space.
This one is one of her favorites...
Once in a while she will go through her dolls packed
away and play with them, but then they have to be packed away again...
for now at least.

She has her little vintage elephant collection on a little shelf on the wall.
She adores this lil Dumbo....
It reminds her of her first Dumbo ride and Disneyland trip when she was two.

You've heard the sweet song from your childhood....
"Mary had a little lamb"?
Well in Freckles world it is,
"Mary had a little Elephant"!
Sweet Mary was given to her by our dear friend Susan
before we moved to California.
If I am not mistaken it belonged to her mother.
I hope you enjoyed a little glimpse into her room.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Her Patchwork Ganny Gann

Miss Freckles received this special
afghan for Christmas,
(affectionately called Ganny Gann)
from her Great Grandma.

Her Great Grandma knows what a spunky, happy girl she is,
so made this very colorful patchwork
ganny to match her personality.

She has been carrying it and cuddling
in it around the house ever since.
Great Grandma said that this may be
the last of the afghans she makes.
She made all of us afghans, plus several
others for family members.

Maybe she feels she is tiring out.
We are blessed to have them,
made by her hands and stitched with lots of love intended.
It will serve as a comfort to my
little girl ...

And, share with her sweet dreams
for many years to come.

Handmade with LOVE....

It all began when my daughter & I were browsing through a catalog and we spied a sweet elephant purse. Well, I knew I didn't have anymore money for Christmas so I thought....
Gee I can make something like that.
It is sure good to be crafty & resourceful.

I gathered up some old vintage red wool, some fabric, trims and vintage buttons.
Sketched out an elephant and whipped it up in less than two hours.
I gave it to her on Christmas Eve.
Yes, she thought I ordered it...
I told her Mama made it with LOVE for her.
And that made her so HAPPY!

P.S. She loved the Pink Sugar Elephant doll I made her too !
( scroll down a couple posts about elephant doll)
She said it was her bestest gift!

Elephant Bottoms.....

What do you do when your kids pants get dirty knees and holes in them?
I decided since freckles, favorite jeans got a hole in the knee + stains I couldn't get out, that I would save them & turn them into a whole new fun pair of pants.

I cut off the lags from the knee down and added a floral print fabric ruffle to that.
We affectionately call them Elephant Bottoms.

Hence, this is a frugal time in our life. So, I decided to save the pants !! And,
Freckles still gets to keep her favorite jeans...
must I add, they are stinkin' cute on her.

I think they are even cuter than before. Freckles, is definitely stylin'.

A White ( Pacaderm ) Elephant Party

I am sooo excited !

This was my first White Elephant party I have been in years ! It was pretty fun... you know the rules? People bring a gift ( can be old stuff or new stuff ) you pick a number, when your called you pick a gift or take a gift you like from someone else. ( Vicious isn't it ? ) If you get a gift taken away from you then you pick another. Well, it goes on for a bit... but, it is fun. Some people got someones old books, or DVD's. There were candles, bath yummy's and a gift card for I Tunes. Which my son got, but then someone cold heart idly stole it from his hands.... ( mean I know ) J.K..

Well I was #5 out of 38... got myself a brand new purse with tags still on it.... wooo hoooo ! I needed it, and no one took it from me either

(The stuffed White Elephant in the photo is my daughters which she brought to the party.)

Well, remember when the person took the gift card from my son? He picked another gift... which was of no use to him. So, he generously gave it to me.... It was a vintage tin, inside were lovely antique/vintage linens

( a table top cloth and 4 napkins nicely pressed and in wonderful condition.)

There was also a little white ceramic loaf pan...perfect !!!

Right up my alley.....

I scored !!!!
