The Fourth

I am grateful for having a little porch to decorate. The last couple places we have lived didn't have much of a porch to do anything on. Now we will get to enjoy sitting under our shaded area. The perfect place to have a Summer's evening meal, or reading on the porch swing...enjoying our new neighborhood. We were proud to hang our Old Glory in our front yard too. Sadly we were one of just a few in our neighborhood that put an American Flag out.

We are still in the middle of a heat wave. People keep telling us
this isn't normally hot like this... Hmmmmmm.... Anyway....

We have been trying to enjoy the Summer a bit hanging with new friends from our church home here. Sunday afternoon we were invited to a lovely little park in a quaint town just a few miles from us, for a nice picnic. It was perfect. We fell in love with this particular family whom reminded us very much of our closest friends back in Southern Cali. They will never take their place....yet, we feel very blessed beyond mention to be able to spend time with like minded people, who take their faith and family seriously, who love and nurture their children in the adoration of God, who love to be together as a family. It's all good.

Later this week we were invited to a home of a sweet couple for food and fellowship. It was yet another delightful time spending an evening with God's people. It was uplifting and soothing to the soul. Another blessing to add to the many blessings we have. For the Fourth...We joined a group of different families from church for an evening of good old fashioned baseball and fireworks.

It was the perfect way to celebrate the many blessings so many take for granted. Our freedom. I could go on and on about that, but will spare you. For us....It was a delight...We have felt very loved and welcomed to our new home and our new life. There are still moments though, when we feel something missing....It is our son. It has seemed like a long four months since he moved back to Washington...We miss him so much. It is still very hard on us...Especially Freckles...Her heart aches...There has been moments of tears out of the blue over her big brother being far from home. It really is a strange feeling. Good news is... We are looking into flying him to us for a handful of days, which we hope will relieve time from seeming as if it's been forever.
I hope you all had a great Fourth and Summer is treating you all good.
Keep cool.
