The Last Day's Of Summer & A Taste Of Country

Last week we drove up to the countryside to visit our friends for a little adventure and dinner. They live on a beautiful piece of land where you can roam into the woods. They took us out in their Army Jeep from the Vietnam War along with a ATV....Through dirt roads and hills into a pasture of Oak trees where we stopped and enjoyed conversation, wine, cheese and crackers with fruit and a little bit of shooting almost until the sun set...

It was absolutely gorgeous...I really just wanted to stay there a little longer, but we had to get back before the sun went down,,,We certainly didn't want to ave a run in with a wild animal. We got back to their place and had a lovely dinner outside under the stars...A little more wine to top off the evening and ended the evening gathering up in their barn and played a family game. Good time, great belly rolls! We are so blessed to have this family come into our lives. It is a friendship we have prayed fervently for a long time. They are perfect for us!!!
Here's to many more enjoyable times with them!!!

15 Candles

Our baby girl just turned 15.
Can't believe it...She has grown up so fast. By her request she wanted to invite her closest friends for a birthday party hang out/ outdoor movie/ sleepover. It was a great day for her...We set up the backyard with everything you could have to enjoy an outdoor movie. The girls enjoyed it as well. They stayed up till wee hours of the next morning and had fruit and muffins with orange juice..
Then everyone went home.

Oh Happy Day to my sweet Freckles!

Great America

Sorry for the blurry photos, they were taken from our cell phones. Last week we were invited to hit Great America themed park with coasters and rides. I have a confession: Freckles and I are NOT fans of coasters. But we went to support our friends who begged us to come. And we even went on a couple rides. After the rides, we looked at each other and said...Never again! Some people like the thrill of going fast, whipping you around and dropping...Not us...We like mellow. Like a carousal. lol... I am proud of my girl for braving it through a couple of them. I almost passed out on one of them. I just can't take the whipping and dropping....It really makes me feel pretty ill.

Will we do it again? no!!!! We will however go for the water park there, but not the coasters! Did I mention we liked the carousel ride though? lol

Summer Vintage Finds

I love Thrift shopping. I go on a regular basis, hunting for little treasures for my home and sometimes to set aside for future selling. This Summer I have found a few vintage dolls, sewing notions & supplies, fabrics, pot holders and kitschy goodness,
sheets and useful storage items in my sewing room.

I was excited to find two quilts as well. My recent find was a Grandmother's Garden Quilt...I have always wanted one but never could afford some of the price tags on them. This beauty was $10. I saw it hanging there and was a little weary to look at the price...thinking nah, it would be to good to be true if it was affordable. I saw 10 and was like...Um, yeah! I snagged it off the hanger so fast it would have knocked your socks off. I really couldn't believe this hand sewn, colorful quilt from the 40's was so cheap! it made my day, that's for sure!!!!

We also found these adorable lunch containers for Freckles new school year.
They are not vintage but it reminded me of little floral vintage fabric... The colors are so sweet...
And all $1.50 each from Daiso...eeep!
 I love a great bargain!

Proverbs 31 Girls~ Summer Cooking Camp

What a blessing to have been a part of a Proverbs 31 Cooking Camp this last week for Summer break. My girl had a great time at this camp...Learning how to cook and bake some goodies, and left with some hndy tips, tricks and knowledge in the kitchen. It was pretty extensive. Each day they worked on a bible verse, had a time of prayer and devotional time on the Proverbs 31 woman. She gleaned so much! Every day they made something new. The first day they made Shepherd's Pie and homemade rolls and brought it home for our dinner. The second day they made a lovely wild berry crumble which we enjoyed that evening paired with vanilla ice cream. Wednesday they made fruit tarts and toffee. Thursday they made quiche and Friday the girls presented and hosted a lovely brunch for the mother's and ladies. It was delightful! They really shined, making delicious food as the presentation was also beautiful.

The teachers were wonderful too!
They went all out and dedicated hours of work to
these young ladies and it all paid off!
