Summer Bucket List

Happy Summer...Happy first day of July! I can't believe the year is half way over...How time flies!!! These are the times when I want to fully embrace my family...My kids growing up and having fun in the midst of mundane. I work very hard at trying to be as creative as possible making life fun when sometimes the days drag by. Yet, I do confess we also enjoy those days where we just live out our normal routines. A little fun never hurt anyone though....We are still sorta in a position in our lives where my daughter still doesn't have friends to do things with. There are just not that many people in our lives right now that have girls her age. It is a rough season for her....But let me also say...For the most part she doesn't seem to mind terribly...She knows we love her and we try to make this time special together. For the past several Summers we have been making a Summer Bucket list. Simply a list of activities we can look forward to doing together. Some getting out of the house exploring or doing something crafty/creative. We have planned a couple fieldtrips and family stuff...

These times will be special as we make memories together that are meanigful. I am happy to say we have already started to cross off our list to do... Mr. darling works most of the week so a lot of the activities are fulfilled between us girls... He makes a lot of effort to be a part of  most of it. However it is great because my girl and I get along so well...She truly is my mini me. She is my buddy and I really don't know what I would do without her...She fills my days with muse. I mean look at us...she looks very much like me too. I love that we have so much in common and can enjoy every little thing together. I am so thankful to God for this beautiful girl.

So far this Summer she has made pictures with sidewalk chalk, she has been invited to go swimming by a couple friends...That has been a lifesaver in this heat let me tell you. We have had a girls day out with lunch and shopping in the Mall, We went to the movies together and cried through the whole chick flick... We even brought a box of tissues knowing it was going to be a tearjerker and we sobbed.

Freckles signed up for the Teen Reading program in the Library...At the end she will get a ten dollar gift card to Barnes And Noble Book Store!!! She has been wearing flowers in her hair almost everyday...It's kinda her thing right now. I love it.

We started a Gilmore Girls Marathon enjoying nice hot cups of tea and cookies as we go. And yes, I know the show is a little risque...But this will also give us an opportunity to talk about a lot of stuff that is wrong with that sort of life...The discussion will lead to good things. Some of it will go over her head but some of it will raise questions...And I will be there to guide her through it and share about what God would think...And to share with her the proper ways God ordained marriage and relationships to be. And don't fret dear friends she turns her head at the kissy scenes.

We have also been enjoying some fantastic dinners outside, a couple picnics and great get togethers with our new church family...What a blessing our group has been to us. We are so blessed and encouraged by the work God has placed before us. Our church family is truly a wonderful eclectic group of loving, genuine people. More to come as we cross off our bucket list...
It will be a special Summer.

  1. Sounds like you have some wonderful plans for the summer. My oldest daughter and I have always shared the same kind of interest in things. We have always been the best of friends. My youngest and i don't have as much in common, but there's no love loss for certain . They are both wonderful beautiful daughters. If I was up for it and financially fit I would like to take a road trip to the ocean this summer, but spending time with the family here close by will be a blessing as always. Blessings to all of you dear friend

  2. Awwwww Mica we are going thru the same stage with Caleb. He's going to be 14 next week. So rough because he doesn't have friends same age and same interest. Going to a high school this year. But, at home all we do is to support him praying and do lots and lots of family time!
