Beach Day

My friend invited us to drive down to Monterey for a beach day with her kids. We thought...What the heck!!! It's Summer, we gotta get at least one beach day in. We packed up our lunches, tents and beach toays and headed out in the morning. It was a foggy start but by the end of the day it burned off...And the wind picked up.

The day before the beach trip Freckles and I headed over to Home Depot for this tent project. I found it on Pinterest and had to make it for trips like this or even to be able to take them to the park. Perfect for Freckles to climb under, giving her shade etc...and a nice place to read her books. The project for two wood frames cost less then $20 bucks!!! We added Vintage Full flat sheets over the frame...It's functional and cute!! Later when we have time...We are going to paint our frames in cute colors. We can switch out the covers at any time for a different look too!!!

The rest of the day us Momma's chatted and watched the kids build their sand castle mote, play frisbee, and splash in the waves. Towards the end of our day the wind picked up and blew the beach umbrella backwards and the tents fell...We were literally getting sandblasted so decided it was time to go.....It was fun but Freckles and I both decide that we just are not beach bunnies...We'd rather be at a pool swimming in clean water and void of sand. Once in a while I am sure we will visit the beach, but let's just say...It is not one of our favorite spots!!!!
Hope you all are having a great Summer...hard to believe it's almost over!!!!

The Boardwalk...

After a long couple months of work and business, Mr. Darling suggested we get out and chill out on a little adventure for his day off. Usually he would just need to veg out at home, but this time he actually wanted to see some sights. We decide to check out Santa Cruz a bit... Of course along the way we tried to find a couple thrift shops and bookstores...We also found a quaint little shop and a coffee shop his friend suggested.. The coffee was good, the thrift stores we eh, and there were no bookstores to be found.

So, we had a little lunch and took a drive over to the Boardwalk. The Santa Cruz Boardwalk was Founded in 1907, it is California's  oldest surviving amusement park and one of the few seaside parks on the West Coast of the United States. The History in itself is neat. Yet, I must admit it was not really that spectacular to us. We enjoyed looking at the colorful rides and the beautiful seashore...But it just wasn't that exciting. Let's just say we probably wouldn't go back.

I don't mean to be negative about it, but it was kinda dirty like down there and the people that were there at the time were kinda shady.... It wasn't overcrowded since we were there on a weekday, but I think I would be a lot more miserable if it was overly crowded. We had fun snapping some pictures yet, the time we spent there was not even an hour long. So with that, we got some fun snapshots of a one time visit to the Boardwalk.

And we can see we walked through history.

Like Summertime

My girl and I were alone this weekend....Well not really alone. We had each other of course and we spent the whole weekend hanging with friends. Friday we hung out with our gal pal Marmie, Saturday we went to the beach...Which was quite nice. The weather here is still like Summertime. This week alone is supposed to top the three digits. Where oh where is Autumn? Here's pictures from our day at the beach spent with friends. I am so happy they kept us company while our guys were away. It was really sweet just hanging with Freckles...we had a blast together. Saturday night we went to a Winery where our friend Lee Koch was singing...It was fun getting our groove on. Sunday we spent the day with our Church family and back at our friends house for the day for dinner and fellowship. It was definitely a fun filled weekend...

I am so looking forward to some cooler weather though
since this Summer seemed sooo long and hot. Anybody else experiencing hot weather?
On another note..Hope you all have a great week ahead. We are back to the grind.

Goodbye Summer....

For our last week of Summer fun before school starts after Labor Day, we went to the beach with friends from church. And I finally get to cross of the beach from my Summer Bucket List. Yay. The day was filled with listening to the waves and children playing. They dug holes, captured sand crabs, buried my son in the sand, I made a mermaid with my son, played in the ocean, boogie boarded and walked on the boardwalk. We ate lunch under our canopy, soaked up some sun (well....whatever sun there was) did a little people watching and enjoyed the company of good friends. Oh, and came back with lot's of sand.

Goodbye Summer...
We will miss you.
