This & That

I spent the last couple days preparing for this school year...So glad to be done with that part. Now, we're ready to go starting after this next weekend. Thanks again for all your prayers regarding my illness. Well, I am still sick with bronchitus and getting over the flu...No fun...no fun at all. It has really worn me out....Yet, I am trying my hardest to stay on track with my everyday duties. I have really been enjoying listening to a bunch of old records I found thrifting a while back. Each record cost 99 cents. I love them....Music from the 30's & 40's...like Artie Shaw, Leroy Anderson, Jo Stafford and others.

 There's nothing like the sound of an old record playing on a phonograph.

In other news...Freckles spent a lovely long weekend a couple weeks back with her friend, celebrating her birthday. They went to The American Girl store in L.A, had a sleep over with a few girls one night, watched movies, had many giggles and sang songs all weekend long.

They also hung out at the mall and had another sleepover with their friend Cozi

If you haven't seen the movie...see it...What a sweet story inspired

by the true story about a dolphin named Winter.

It's a Great, wholesome family film.

It was a great way to end the Summer.

Now to get ready for school next week.

The Way Home

My blogger friend Rosina had recently

 shared a book review she did for

 Book Sneeze. 

 I thought that would be a great idea. You order a book from their list of available books, read it and write a blog post review about it... In the end you get the book for free. Sometimes there are movies to choose from. As my first pick I chose a movie to review.

Here is my review:

In this inspiring true story The Way Home. Dean Cain also known for playing Super Man on television, played a wonderful role as Randy Simpkins, a husband and father torn between his demanding job and committing to his family in crisis. He depicts a distracted man by his work about to head out on vacation with his family, leaving work behind him. His wife asks if he would keep an eye on their two year old Joe for a few minutes while she goes through the house to turn everything off. Next thing she finds is Randy on the computer looking through his work e-mails. Disturbed at his actions she also realizes that Joe is not there. they search everywhere frantically for their little boy no where to be found. As a parent myself this movie was heart wrenching from beginning to end for this is surely any parents worse nightmare and fear to have their child go missing without a trace. Grab your tissue box as you watch this family, their loving Church and community unite together out of pure love for this family, they search for their son.

This journey will surely tug at your heart strings as you sit at the edge of your seat hoping for a happy outcome. It will also leave you to think and ponder what is truly important. This movie also has a great message of love, friendships, family and ultimately faith in God. By the end of the story this father changes~ through his search for his son his faith is tested. The way home is Randy's powerful spiritual journey back to love, faith and a Godly understanding of what must take first priority in a man's life~ His family. I would surely recommend this movie to families of all ages.

Prince Caspian

We took the kid's to see the new Narnia movie, Prince Caspian. We all enjoyed it very much and look forward to owning it. It was filled with lot's of action , a bit more violent than the first but, well done. the young actors are so talented and the effects are awesome !!!

Lewis's timeless fantasy come to dazzling life again in this second installment of the seven book series, in which the Pevensie siblings — Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy — are magically and mysteriously transported back from World War II England to Narnia, where a thrilling, perilous new adventure and an even greater test of their faith and courage awaits them.

One year after the incredible events of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," the newly-annointed Kings and Queens of Narnia find themselves back in that faraway wondrous realm, only to discover that more than 1000 years have passed in Narnian time. Published between 1950-56 and long regarded as one of literature's most enduring and imaginative classics, Lewis' books have sold over 100,000,000 books in 29 different languages, making it the second biggest book series the world over. In addition to the second novel, the Oxford scholar wrote six additional books, including "The Voyage of the 'Dawn Treader'" (1952), "The Silver Chair" (1953) "The Horse and His Boy" (1954) "The Magician's Nephew" (the prequel to the first book, 1955), "The Last Battle" (1956) and the story that launched the series in 1950, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."

The Last Sin Eater ....

We watched this power film directed by Michael Landon Jr. and really enjoyed it !!! I am just sharing to those who are tired of Hollywood junk.. there are good films out there that have meaning to them. this one was really good and I am not afraid to recommend it.. but please do take a moment to view the link below.. see what it is about.. what other viewers have to say about it. Saving Sarah Cain .. And Other Wholsome Thoughts...

Michael Landon Jr. Follows in his fathers footsteps of bringing wholesome goodness to families to watch. Remember Michael Landon, Pa, from Little House On The Prairie ?? and Highway to Heaven??? He directed and or produced those goodies back in the 80's. We are currently netflixing the little House Series, now on Season 3. We have 7 more Seasons to go.. but we, even Mr. Darling and my son enjoy watching them.

I must say our recent desision to getting rid of cable and T.V has been a blessing. We are now only renting movies of our choice ...no more bad shows and re-runs and horrific commercials. I know it may sound a bit radical and sheltering.. but really it isn't it's a heart thing.
