Let's Swim...It's HOT Enough!

Off and on Summer has been trying to peek it's head in. The temps. have already risen up to the 100's and it's not even Summer yet. Our place does not have the luxury of a pool nor do we have air conditioning. Even the layout of this hose does not allow for good air circulation when the windows are open. So lets just say it gets really hot in here. We were pretty miserable the last couple weeks, being cooped up in a hothouse with no relief. Until some friends from church offered to pick us up for a swim at their Grandmother's house. It just so happened the day we went was one of the hottest days that week. Boy did we need that.

The kids had some fun splashing around, keeping it cool for over five hours. I took a few snapshots of the kids...It was truly a Godsend, that they invited us along. Poor Freckles was melting in the house.

I hope it won't be the last invitation to go swim.
I'm thinking it may get pretty hot in our parts, since it's already getting hot over here and Summer has yet to begin. Anybody in our neck of the woods who has access to a pool and wouldn't mind some company, be sure to keep us in mind. We would love to join you. ;)

Kicking Off The Summer With A Pre~Mini Vacay...

Summer time is here y'all. My kids and I took a pre~mini vacation to my sisters for the last few days. First, my son had to make a delivery clear past Los Angeles...So we had a whole afternoon of driving and seeing the sights out the car window. Then off to our destination to visit with the family.

To get to my sisters we had to exit what is the old Route 66 and took a quick pick of one of the last old 50's diner in Southern Cali...The Summit Cafe. We didn't stop to eat...
perhaps next time, it actually looks like a cute place.

We stayed up late visiting, swimming, jacuzzi soaking and watching movies for a couple days. It was a really good visit with my Sister, my Brother in law and my Nephews. We will really miss them when we have to move. My kids enjoyed the pool...Especially my little fish who LOVES to swim.

Now we get to look forward to a week of swimming and fun in the sun
on vacation with our friends this Saturday.

We also enjoyed Happy Hour at Sonic... I love their Cherry Lime aids. YUM.
Then we went bowling for a couple hours.

The last game we bowled...Let's just say I kicked every one's butt.
I won. Oh yes I did.
Good Times.

One last dip in the pool. Well, for my son it was more like
one last jump into the pool to cool off before we headed back home.

And one last peek into a little birds nest from my sisters yard.
 So sweet isn't it?

It was a fun few days...Thanks to my family for letting us come over on a whim.
Another few more days and we'll be on the road.
Happy Summertime.

Keeping It Cool....

The last couple of days we've been trying to keep it cool...
Eating lots of fruit, swimming in the blow up pool, splashing around.

Eating frozen yogurt...YUMMY! Frozen yogurt shops are a big hit around here...We have three that I know of in our area. This trip was spent with our sweet friend...She works here.

These have been great too!
The kids love to eat these otter pops...a refreshing little snack when your trying to beat the heat. There is lot's of ice cream eating, smoothie drinking and ice tea sipping going on over here. How are you beating the heat and keeping it cool? Do tell!!!
Have a great Colorful Summery Day!

Summer Swimming

It's not hard to get outside, especially on a nice warm Summer day and if it has anything to do with water, all the better! This week for our Monday Outdoor challenge is swimming lessons. Freckles has always loved to swim and be in the water...yet, she hasn't been a STRONG swimmer.
So, we decided since she is a fish at heart, she might as well take some lessons to help with her endurance.

Our local pool is a very nice one in fact... it even has a water wet park type area to play in. This has been a really fun way to get out, get some exercise and cool off. The past two weeks have been spent at the pool. Freckles is LOVIN' it too!

I am pleasantly pleased with how she has done...
she is gaining her strength in the water and able to do the strokes and swimming on her back.
Way to go Freckles!
Last week she even graduated to the next level.
 Woo HOO!!!

Thanks to an awesome swim instructor from the swim team... Sasha!
It was fun!
Now for the next two weeks we are off to the next level with a new instructor!
Hope you are keepin' it cool! No pool???
Well, put on those sprinklers, get outside, get wet...have fun!
