Rainbow Polka Dot Shoes Tutorial...

Today Freckles & I wanted to have a little fun with color. My Daughter loves color....So we thought with her love of art, fashion and color, we would combine them all in a fun project. Here you have it...We also wanted to share with our readers, so we made this tutorial for you. This craft is so easy...
Most any child /tween/teen or adult can have fun with this one.

Supplies:
1. Acrylic paint in your choice of color...
We went with a rainbow of colors.
2. Canvas shoes...We chose white ones.
 You can use any color canvas shoe.
We found ours at Walmart for $5 a pair.
3. A thimble
4. Fine Paint brush. Optional. Just in case you need
to fill in any color that didn't stamp on.
5. Colored shoelaces.
We got ours at The Dollar Tree
6. News print for table surface, paper towels,water, paint plate
  
Take your canvas shoes and pull out the laces. Lay out your news print on table surface so you won't get paint on your furniture. Fill a glass of water for cleaning brush and thimble. Have your paper towel handy. Squirt out a blob of each color you are using onto a paint plate or paper plate. You will be using the stamping method for this project. Fun and easy. Take the thimble holding the top, dip into the paint color and stamp the canvas shoes where you wish to have that color. We used one color at a time, stamping in random places. After you use your first color, wash the thimble in the water and dry with paper towel.
 Now you can use the next desired color, randomly stamping your canvas shoes, being careful not to smudge and letting paint dry in between colors. Repeat process until you are happy with color choice and placement. Make sure they are completely dry before you lace up your shoes with colorful shoestrings.
    
Now your ready to lace up.
Put them on with a cute outfit and your ready for some fun.

Springtime Posies...

The flowers are blooming around here. I love this time of year as the colors brighten up the yard. It makes me smile and brings happiness to my soul when I look at the blooms and posies. In honor of Springtime Posies I was inspired by the beauty of God's blooming flowers and created this colorful girl from wool and cotton fabrics...All handmade with lot's of love and the colors of the rainbow.

Work Before Play...

Good morning everyone....Today will be filled with bustling around the house, school, art projects, a bit of sewing and perhaps a little fun. But first we must play work then play. Other than that, I really don't have much. I am looking forward to this weekend...My mom and sister are coming down to do a bit of shopping and lunch for our birthdays...That ought to be fun. The rest of the week is mainly working on purging stuff, staying focused and keeping joyful while we do it. Little things like this tiny pencil sharpener globe brings a smile. Isn't it adorable? Freckles found it while thrifting. She has a good eye for stuff we like.

We also found these cheerful rainbow socks at The Dollar Store.
Too cute to pass up.
Now she has Happy Feet.

 

Missy is sporting some funky shades we also found for a buck at Target.
 I love that pooch.

OOOH...Remember Pick Up Sticks? We found this for a buck at the Thrift Shop...Now I just have to teach Freckles how to play. Would you believe, Duncan Hines Pancake Mix had this in the box? Remember when the prizes in cereal were way cool and even Cracker Jacks had fun prizes. Now there is junk in them. After all our work today...We will do a little play...Pick Up Sticks anyone?

Happy Spring...

 

Spring is in the air...

We have been enjoying this colorful cake from

 our friends birthday over the weekend. Yummy.

 

We went shopping for some organizing helpers and did a little looking at some fun colorful stuff. We picked up a cute orange back door hook hanger thingy for Freckles to organize all her purses and hats and got a magazine organizer for her mags...Nice to get everything in order, off the floor and out from under her bed.

    

She is really drawn to all the happy colors...It was fun putting things on our wish list. after our Target spree we went thrifting to find Freckles a Katniss Everdeen outfit for the Hunger Games Movie Premier. Yep, we got sucked into it all. She has read all the books and then re- read the first and second book. We are going to the midnight premier with some friends and had to dress up as her fave character. Great thing is we went thrifting and found the whole outfit there...and got 30% off everything.

We will be taking some pics...to share later. it's going to be fun.

  

We also went to Hobby Lobby...

I LOVE going there...Just for fun.

 

It was a happy day spent with my kids...

Now to get some organizing and Spring cleaning done....Preparing for another Garage sale before our move. Still no word as far as where we are moving, but thought I should get a good head start on getting it all together and ready for when that time comes. Please keep praying for us.

The Vintage Marketplace....

  

We had a girls day out today with a couple girlfriends. One friend not pictured since she was caring for her toddler. We headed out to The Vintage Marketplace that comes around every three months just down the road from where I live. My trusty gal pal Marmie has joined me the past couple times we have gone. Shes such a sweetheart. Of course my mini me came along...She is my partner in crime.

 

Quick sad story though: I put on mu Fanatic Junker bracelet this morning. I bought it from an Artist friend. Barb St.John when I taught at the ZNE Convenzione a few years ago. I love the bracelet....I even took a silly picture of it this morning. So we get to the Flea Market and low and behold it fell off my wrist somewhere from the car and the entrance to the Flea Market. I went back to trace my footsteps and it was nowhere to be found... makes me sick. I'm sure someone picked it up and LOVES it... Oh so sad.

    

No matter...We still had a great time looking at all the treasures. My eyes were definitely happy today. I picked up a couple things from one booth...I'll show the things I brought home below...We also went to an Estate Sale down the road from the Flea Market and found a few treasures there too...

     

My poor friend Gina had her arms full with her toddler most of time...She practically had to run through the whole thing...I hardly saw her there...Marmie hung in with us though...hat a pal she is. She is the cutest lil thing...So petite and the sweetest heart...This is a pic. I snapped of her on this tiny child s couch...Yes, she is that small. Heck you can see how little she is in the pics. above. i look like an Amazon Woman next to her. Look how huge that coffee mug looks next to her. ha ha ha...So cute.

   

So moving on...We looked at some fun things and headed off to the Estate Sale... FUN, FUN, FUN....

I picked up these few letter blocks from Jessica's Earth Cookie... They are so fun. We got a few more little things from her booth...Simple, yet sweet.

 

We got the globe from the Estate Sale...Marmie knows I have a collection of globes and pointed it out...It was one buck...Oh yeah.. Now I have 5 globes.

 

I found this old weighing thingy at the estate sale...I don't know what to even call it...But got it for a few bucks...I can easily fix it up and repaint it...It will be a perfect addition to the kitchen....Love it.

 

I got the floral metal tray and crochet floral doily at the Flea Market. The most I spent today was on the tray. I loved it...My colors for reals.

    

Back at the Estate sale I got the red white & blue cloth napkins for .25 cents each, the sewing tamaters for .25 cents each, the funky floral colorful fabric for .50 cents, and the patchy hot pads for .50cents.

 

The adorable colorful plastic clothespins and happy colorful wall piece was also from Jessica's booth back at the Flea Market....These were for Freckles to enjoy. She already hung the hoop art in her room.

 

I also found Freckles this darling blue birdhouse bottle for her bathroom, only .75 cents. Too cute.

 

Lastly, I picked up a Ball jar with old screw lid for one buck...perfect for some sewing goodies. It was really a fun day, and I didn't spend a lot. My gal pals found their treasures at the Estate sale. Everyone left with a little treasure. Oh Happy Day...except for my missing bracelet ( BOO ). I hope it will bless someone. Here's to a good weekend ahead. I have to finish my orders for my peeps...Will share soon.
