Kitschy Fun...

Ooh la la. Meet my newest friend.

This darling gal was found at World Market to carry cakes and pies.
Just in time for all the party's we have going on lately and picnics too. I love it...I can carry a cake and a pie at the same time in this baby. Or a cake and mini cupcakes. Totally useful and cute in the kitchen of course.

This bright sunshiny girl was snatched up in a New York minute while hunting through my local Thrift.
Just a couple bucks spent and I am one happy gal.

And...This Campbell's kid girly made her home in my kitchen...Another find for just a few dollars.
She had to come home with me. Just look at that chubby face and her big eyes. She looks adorable on my kitchen shelf. Maybe I can recruit her to do some baking for me.

Now to get baking....Which I am planning on this week.
I have to make some desserts for my Dear Mr. Darling's Graduation party this weekend.
One pie I will be making is this :

Summer Strawberry Sour Cream Pie
(Click Source for recipe.)
Looks yummy. I am also planning on making my famous
Banana Bread Trifle and a Strawberry Pound Cake Trifle. Yummy.
Summer is almost here...Are you all ready?
Do you have any plans. We do...Will share soon.
Have a Happy Tuesday.

Roses, Owls and Headaches....

Last week flew by like the wind, I am so behind on Spring cleaning yet, my headaches are holding me back from being very productive in the home or in my doll making. I woke once again with a really bad headache. I took what I could, drinking fluids and resting....still to no avail I have the headache and it's the end of the day. I have had headaches all my life really. I may have inherited the migraines from my father. It is actually very seldom I don't have a headache. To top it all off I have  chronic sinusitis and allergies, especially during Spring and Summer. Even though I have left with such a curse, I still appreciate the beauty outside. The flowers are blooming everywhere...This pretty was in my garden awaiting a photo opportunity...Isn't she a beaut? I found my apricot tree bloom's fell off and it's full of green balls...I so can't wait to pick them when they are ready!!! Next week I am going to buy some strawberries & make loads of jam....YUM!!!
Freckles really wanted to craft with me last week. I asked her what she wanted to do...She said she wanted to paint up an owl on my wood pieces. So, we sat down together and created these Lil sweeties. I am so proud of her. She did a wonderful job on her owl in which she affectionately named Freckles.
Now she is all gung ho ! to open a little shop of her own and sell her little owls. If anyone out there is interested in my darling little girls owls...please let her know...She is ready for special orders and priced them at $10.00 each with $2.00 shipping. Not bad for a sweet piece of art!
Speaking of orders. A blog pal ordered an owl caplet for her 3 year old daughter....I finally shipped it off last week. Hope she loved it! It's pretty close to the one I made Freckles, except it was a little smaller. If anyone would like an owl cap...Please let me know....any color, any size for $20.00 w/ FREE shipping!
Well, I am off to lay my pounding head down, this is about all I can muster up for the day!
 Happy Tuesday!!!

Freckles is so happy with it!
Isn't she cute!!!!??
She is so BIG on owls right now!!!

Don't forget to visit this one too!

If you don't crochet, you can find these on Etsy...

Oh My !!!!

I just had to share...
I went thrifting this weekend...well, really I needed to find more
trims to add to the sowing box for a couple projects I have going on for the shop...
The best place to go is the Thrift Shops....Great deals are to found dirt cheap! So anyways,
I am rummaging through the linens and such and passed.... or let's say I couldn't pass up the Ganny
(An afghan we affectionionately call Ganny)
I found. I have a couple Granny square afghans, one that
my Gramma made years ago and now belongs to Freckles..
.And another Vintage one I found last Summer
( The Green & Pink one in the picture).
So of course I had to bring this Ganny home.

This one is full of color with a black background...Love it!!!
And it was $4.00!!
I found the green and pink one for the same amount..YES!!!
It just doesn't get any better than that....

Now, I'm just waiting for a nice chilly night to use them...
(since it is way too warm here in Sunny Cali!)
So hopefully that will be soon....
For now their going to drape over the couch and chair...Cozy!!

What ever the weather...
I hope you find a cozy ganny to curl up in !!!
 Have a great Sunday!!!

Caterpillers...Gumdrops...Potholders and Totes...

This is a random post really. I have been a bit off the past few days with a cold. Over the weekend the kids and I went up to my Mom's for her Big Garage Sale she has twice a year. I brought over a bunch of stuff to contribute to the lot. My Aunt brought some goodies too... As we were setting up, both of us were rummaging through each others things we brought and found ourselves swapping... She liked the things I brought as I liked the things she brought. Too funny. It was fun though. I love my new treasures...which I will share this week. we also left our Garage Sale to go to a few Garage Sales in the neighborhood... and spent some of the money we made from ours.

Here's some random for you...
I was in the kitchen wiping down the counters and glanced
over at the sweet pot holder my daughter made me a couple years ago.
It is really a little treasure to me. makes me smile.

Last week I did a little sewing and crochet for a tote I am making...
It's almost done and will be put in my shop.
What do you think?

Hope you all had a nice weekend...
Now on to another week of school and homemaking.
I planned out our dinner menu for the week,  chores and crafts.
Here's to a productive week ahead...
 (Cheers!)

Time Spent....

The past several days Freckles has been ill with the flu.
After My son gave it me,
I gave it to Mr. Darling who in return gave it to Freckles.
It's a vicious circle.
For some reason it just seems harder on the little ones.
This flu had struck us with mega head aches, neck aches,
fever, pain throughout body, sore throats and coughing..... Nasty stuff.
Poor Freckles has been running a fever today.
It makes me sad to see her so sick.
Her Time was spent on her bed reading a bit.

I captured these photos of her on her pretty bed,
sitting on an older Ganny my Grandmother made when I was younger.
It is perfect in Freckles room. The roses so sweet!

My dear Freckles loves her bed room and bed which
is adorned with some vintage fabrics...
An old quilt that is quite tattered hangs on her wall...
while vintage sheets make up her bed.

Perfectly cozy for her when shes under the weather.
I went to check on her a while later and the poor dear fell asleep.

Get well my sweet girl!!!

Her Patchwork Ganny Gann

Miss Freckles received this special
afghan for Christmas,
(affectionately called Ganny Gann)
from her Great Grandma.

Her Great Grandma knows what a spunky, happy girl she is,
so made this very colorful patchwork
ganny to match her personality.

She has been carrying it and cuddling
in it around the house ever since.
Great Grandma said that this may be
the last of the afghans she makes.
She made all of us afghans, plus several
others for family members.

Maybe she feels she is tiring out.
We are blessed to have them,
made by her hands and stitched with lots of love intended.
It will serve as a comfort to my
little girl ...

And, share with her sweet dreams
for many years to come.

Autumn Evenings

If you have noticed through this season,
I have been taking pictures of this tree
and the changes it is going through.
The leaves are almost all off....
a sure sign of Winter ahead.
The day's have been warm yet,
as I have mentioned in past posts. Yet,
there is a friendly little chill in the evenings.
Enough to light the fireplace.

These are the kind of evenings perfect for quiet embroidery.
I am slowly making progress with this crewel
project I started earlier this Fall from
this post.(click)

Of course I have my little Mini Me right along side me doing a project.
Freckles just learned how to use a Knifty Knitter
and is in the progress of making an Autumn Cap.

I also finished a puzzle that my son & I started.
It feels so good to actually complete a project!
This scene is one of the sweetest reminders of Autumn.
It tickles me to the bone.

We are now preparing for our
Thanksgiving dinner for next week.
It has surely come too soon.
I am grateful to be able to spend the day with my little family.
I sure hope ya'll are having wonderful Autumn evenings
along with making your Thanksgiving plans.
Many blessings from my home to yours!
